What’s the Difference Between ClarityCheck and TrueCaller?

ClarityCheck is a people-search tool that happens to have a number lookup function, whereas TrueCaller is an app with multiple phone-related features.

Here’s the biggest difference between the two tools. ⬇️

ClarityCheck is easier to maneuver…

Go to the ClarityCheck site, put the phone number in the search bar, and sign up to retrieve the results. That’s the whole process.

You get a variety of details on the number (identity, socials, proprietary data, telco info, etc.), which are more in-depth than what TrueCaller tends to find.

– TrueCaller is more complex…

TrueCaller is an ID and Spam Blocker phone app (Android and iOS) – you can reverse-search numbers on the app’s search bar, as well as the web version.

The number lookup is merely one of the many features this service offers, accessible only by users with a TrueCaller account. The info found is basic.

🌍 One similarity is that both ClarityCheck and TrueCaller work in over 100 countries, much like CatfishNumr’s global reach.

ClarityCheck vs. TrueCaller: Comparing Features

TrueCaller has way more features than ClarityCheck, and it’s not even a competition, but ClarityCheck’s features are more helpful for identification.

🔎 ClarityCheck

  • Number of key features: 3
  • Type: Phone Search + Background Check + Other Lookups

ClarityCheck uses 3 main functions to ID callers: number lookups, background checks (similar to Spokeo), and other info (email, photo, and vehicle).

We’ll be focusing on the phone search function, and that alone helps you verify the caller’s full name, home address, relatives, socials, emails, and activity.

📞 TrueCaller

  • Number of features: 5+
  • Kind: Reverse Search + Call/Message ID + Spam and Fraud Protection

TrueCaller has way too many functions to mention them all, but I’ve categorized them into 2 main groups: Identification and Protection.

truecaller features_1

Identification: These features let you reverse-search numbers on the app or web and identify callers in real-time (name, location, and number type).

Protection: The TrueCaller protection elements screen the calls you get, block and filter spam, and give warnings on numbers reported as spam or fraud.

TrueCaller relies on advanced AI and community reports to calculate numbers’ risk scores, be it bot calls, telemarketers, or dangerous scams.

Which Has Better Pricing: ClarityCheck or TrueCaller?

ClarityCheck’s pricing is better for occasional use, and TrueCaller’s pricing fits those who need all-around monthly protection against unknown callers.

– ClarityCheck’s Pricing: Subscriptions and Add-ons

ClarityCheck has 3 main payment plans, and they all have different number-search purposes, depending on which you choose.

  • 1. Monthly Subscription ($29.99/mo with 20 number lookup credits).
  • 2. US Sex Offender Registry ($49.99; check if the number has any matches).
  • 3. Unlimited PDF Downloads ($19.99, no rate limits).

Add-ons: Add 10, 25, or 50 more lookups to your plan by purchasing additional credits. They cost $24.99, $49.99, or $89.99, respectively.

– TrueCaller’s Plans: Monthly or Yearly

Monthly Plans: TrueCaller has two monthly plans, Premium (around $1/mo) and Family (roughly $3/mo). Prices, of course, may vary.

One Yearly Plan: The Gold, which costs around $50/yr. Each of the 3 TrueCaller plans has its own advantages and features, so decide accordingly.

Premium doesn’t have Gold Caller ID and Advanced Family Protection, whereas the Family plan doesn’t have Gold Caller ID. Gold has everything, but the Advanced Family Protection.

📶 TrueCaller Reverse Number Search is more limited on the web than the app, because you get fewer searches and can’t look numbers up without signing up.

Are ClarityCheck or TrueCaller Results More Recent and Accurate?

My TrueCaller results were more accurate and newer, and as a bonus, they were given to me in real time. Nonetheless, they were more concise.

When I tested the TrueCaller phone lookup feature, it gave me a few details on the number. But they were correct, which is enough for me!

✅ I tried the number on the TrueCaller web and phone app, and the results included the caller’s full name, photo, carrier, risk score, and location.

❗ Important Note: All I was interested in was TrueCaller’s number identification power, so I only tested that one feature and not the rest.

I was satisfied with TrueCaller’s report! But how does ClarityCheck compare? Let’s find out. These were the ClarityCheck results.

claritycheck report_1

ClarityCheck identified only the phone number owner’s name and location, but not the usernames, emails, vehicles, and other details it “promises” to find.

The telco info was missing, which is crucial in knowing if a number is real, fake, VoIP, mobile, or landline. Basically, ClarityCheck is a barely passing student.

Decent Speed: Both services took around 5 minutes to generate the reports. I’ve seen better, like CatfishNumr’s phone search results, which only take a minute or so.

Where Do ClarityCheck and TrueCaller Fall Short?

ClarityCheck’s biggest con is the inaccuracy and lack of full results. Let’s just say they promised way more than they could deliver.

Also, registration being mandatory is a big turn-off for me because of privacy reasons. I’d much prefer a service that shows me my results without signing up, like CatfishNumr.

claritycheck con_1

But I did some digging online and found out that ClarityCheck is shady with pricing. We’re talking about promising $1 trials, then overcharging users.

Refunds are hard to get unless you go all Karen on ClarityCheck on a TrustPilot review. Otherwise, the prices themselves and the add-ons are pretty high.

Although TrueCaller is budget-friendly for phone lookups, access to features depends on whether you have an Android or iPhone

TrueCaller is pretty hard to set up on mobile, and you have to create an account on the web…who has the time for that?

I wish both ClarityCheck and TrueCaller paid more attention to telco data. As a safety measure, knowing the number type and carrier is very important.
