7 Alternatives to WhoCalledMe That Work Globally

WhoCalledMe is a free and paid reverse number lookup tool that works well…for British people and basically no one else.

It’s a shame because it’s great for identifying unknown callers. Thankfully, I’ve tested & ranked the best WhoCalledMe alternatives that work globally:

1. CatfishNumr: Global, Budget-Friendly, and Accurate

Phone Number Lookup

Enter any phone number to search.

CatfishNumr is a reverse phone number lookup tool that works for the US, the UK, and international numbers in general (WhoCalledMe, take notes!).

The reverse number search feature and the site are accessible to users all around the world – simply put the number in the search box, and hit the blue button to find:

  • The full name;
  • Social media profiles;
  • Profile picture;
  • Location;
  • Line and carrier type, and other available info.

– How does the pricing go?

CatfishNumr isn’t subscription-based, which works in my favor since I can pay $5.95 for 2 searches or $9.95 for 5 searches. Ethical and straightforward!

– In which countries does CatfishNumr work?

The global coverage is impressive indeed: the US, the UK, Canada, India, Europe, and more!

2. IPQS: Free and International

ipqs

IPQS is a free reverse number lookup API that offers 1,000 free searches per month to all registered users – yes, an account is required.

Pick the country you’re searching in from the drop-down menu, write the number, and press the search button. If available, you should see info like first & last name, emails, and addresses.

But because it’s free, there may be issues with outdated and inconsistent information, especially for non-US numbers, so always double-check results.

IPQS claims to work for numbers from the USA, Canada, the UK, Australia, most of Europe, Asia, and many more!

3. ClarityCheck: Extensive Global Reach & Pay-to-Use

Unfortunately, you do have to pay a $29.99 monthly subscription with ClarityCheck, so if you only need a one-time reverse number lookup, skip this.

If not, know that ClarityCheck is another popular WhoCalledMe alternative that covers US and UK numbers, as well as Europe, Asia, and multiple countries.

You’re likely to find details like names, emails, social media profiles, home addresses, and associations in minutes, and the accuracy is pretty good as well.

It’s perfect for checking whether a number is safe, as well as reconnecting with people, as ClarityCheck is a top pick for ID-ing anonymous callers.

*If you’re unsure, start a 7-day trial for $3.99, but don’t forget to cancel later!

4. KrispCall: Available for 100+ Countries

krispcall

Simple, accurate, and quick: that’s what KrispCall is all about when it comes to reverse phone number searching (be it for casual or business reasons!).

Its reverse number lookup feature supports numbers from 100+ countries, including the  USA, much of Europe, the UK, Asia, etc. – I was surprised to see smaller countries in the menu.

A subscription is required to use KrispCall, and you can choose a monthly plan, ranging from $15-$40, or an annual one, which helps you save 20% monthly ($13/mo or $32/mo).

The availability of details depends on the number you look up, but you should be able to find names, carrier info, location, and others.

5. SocialCatfish: Decent Global Availability and Database

You have probably heard of SocialCatfish, the people-search engine that provides number lookup tools, among other search methods: by name, email, image, and address.

The phone option is pretty popular because it draws from a huge database of public information, with names, social media, and other details available.

You can gain access to the reverse number search feature by purchasing the Social Search plan, which costs $5.73 for 3 days.

Although people report that SocialCatfish is optimal for US phone numbers, it could work for international ones as well!

6. NumLookup: Free Alternative with an OK Range

NumLookup is another free WhoCalledMe alternative with an OK global reach – it works for the US, the UK, and some European and Asian country codes.

You can pay $10-$50 per month to access premium perks, but the free version should do the trick if all you need is details like the caller’s name, telco information, related photos, socials, etc.

Of course, the basic version comes with limitations in terms of speed and accuracy…but it’s free, so I don’t want to complain.

7. TrueCaller: Paid & Free, Works for International Numbers

truecaller

TrueCaller’s basic plan may uncover an unknown caller’s name and associated accounts, but Premium (USD 74.99/yr), Family (USD 99.99/yr), and Gold (USD 249.00/yr), go much deeper for those who want to spend money.

On top of Caller ID, they also come with Call Recordings, Spam Blocking, Fraud Insurance, AI Call Scanner, and other additional perks.

The global availability is the selling point, however, because TrueCaller scans numbers from Africa, Asia, Europe, the Americas, and Australia.

Don’t Fall for the “Global” Trap!

Some services are sneaky…they claim to work globally, which most of the time means you can access them, but not reverse-search international numbers.

If you’re searching for a US number, then you’re in luck because these search tools cater to you – I didn’t include US-only tools like USPhonebook, TruthFinder, Spokeo, Lookify, and countless more for that reason.

Take Lookify as an example: the site is usable for non-US citizens, but you’ll soon come to find out it doesn’t identify foreign numbers.

Don’t fall for these (possibly intentional) traps. Use services that work for you.

🏈 If you’re from the Americas: The majority of tools are likely to work, so either go for a US-specialized number lookup service or an international one.

🌍 If you’re from anywhere else in the world: Research before paying. Make sure the service you’re using supports the number you’re searching, like CatfishNumr. Read their websites, reviews, or even online forums.
