CatfishNumr vs. SpyDialer: Is Free or Paid More Powerful for Number Lookups?

CatfishNumr and SpyDialer are similar at first glance: they are both reverse-search number tools that identify unknown callers.

However, they do it at different levels, as one is free and the other is paid. Which has a stronger number lookup feature? Let’s find out!

There are 4 noticeable differences between CatfishNumr and SpyDialer. The most important one is that the former is paid, and the latter completely free.

However, that very fact is what impacts the effectiveness and ease-of-use of both number search tools. Here’s how:

1. Global Coverage:

CatfishNumr works for international numbers as well as American ones – it works for 100+ countries, whereas SpyDialer works in the US only.

2. Ease of Use:

SpyDialer’s page is a bit overwhelming because of the many ads. I found that CatfishNumr’s page was overall easier to use and more pleasing to the eye.

3. Payment Plans:

SpyDialer is free, whereas in CatfishNumr, you pay individually for the lookups.

4. Estimation of Data:

CatfishNumr dives deep. The results it produces are typically more accurate and specific than SpyDialer, which often gives rough estimates.

However, they both have a Spam Report feature that comes in handy when evaluating the risk of the phone numbers you look up.

CatfishNumr vs. SpyDialer: Comparing Features

CatfishNumr and SpyDialer have features that help identify numbers. But CatfishNumr’s perks are more elaborate, whereas SpyDialer’s are more direct.

– CatfishNumr:

This tool’s features mostly focus on identity verification and risk assessment of US and international numbers. This is what CatfishNumr does:

👥 Number ID-ing: CatfishNumr finds names, locations, and profile photos.

📶 Carrier & Line Data: Is the number VoIP or landline? Who’s the carrier?

📱 Social Media: Find numbers’ social media, dating, and messaging accounts.

⚠️ Risk Signals: See if the number is spam, scam, or legit through user reports!

🌍 100+ Countries: Reverse-search numbers from everywhere in the world.

SpyDialer:

SpyDialer’s features are limited due to low costs, but they’re still impressive! This service focuses on finding basic info on callers: names and photos.

🎵 Voicemail: SpyDialer lets you hear an unknown caller’s voicemail.

📞 Call Reports: View what others are saying about the number you searched.

🚩 Phone Spam: What’s the number’s spam score?

🔑 Intelius Reports: Take your search over to Intelius for more in-depth results.

If I were to pick, I’d say the CatfishNumr features are better for identity confirmation, and SpyDialer’s for basic intel on the number itself.

Which Has Better Pricing: CatfishNumr or SpyDialer?

If by “better” you mean cheaper, SpyDialer wins because it’s free. CatfishNumr’s prices, however, are more affordable, given the high quality of the service.

SpyDialer comes at no cost, other than the optional $0.95 Intelius trial if you choose to use the feature.

This makes it a solid solution for reverse-searching multiple numbers without expecting detailed reports and up-to-date info.

On the other hand, CatfishNumr is a paid reverse number lookup service in which you pay individually for the number lookup credits:

  • 2 searches for $5.95
  • 5 searches for $9.95

It’s perfect for curious people who are looking to find personal details on number owners – it’s not optimal for those who have to do it regularly, though.

Even the low-price plan on CatfishNumr gives great results! A breath of fresh air, as most tools in the market tend to up the quality together with the price.

Are CatfishNumr or SpyDialer Results More Recent and Accurate?

CatfishNumr’s results were overall more accurate and recent, and SpyDialer’s were OK, but inconsistent. I tested them with a US and an international number.

🥇 What results did CatfishNumr find?

I paid to unlock the full results, but I was happy with them! CatfishNumr found the correct caller name, location (country and precise), and carrier/line type.

CatfishNumr showed me 8+ platforms. Another nice addition was the risk score, which let me know if the number is reported for potential scam or spam.

🥈 What did SpyDialer’s report include?

(I couldn’t test a non-US number due to SpyDialer working for +1 numbers only.)

SpyDialer was a 50/50 for me because key details like names and accounts were missing. But I did get the location and number details (carrier & line type).

Not complaining since it is a free number search tool. The spam score and user reports were available and quite useful, though!

🥊 CatfishNumr and SpyDialer Speed of Results:

Tied. Both tools were quick – the whole process took only a few minutes.

Where Do CatfishNumr and SpyDialer Fall Short?

CatfishNumr’s disadvantage is that it’s built mainly for personal, short-term use, which worked in my favor since I don’t typically look numbers up.

CatfishNumr Pricing table

If I were to own a business that requires frequent number searching, I’d skip CatfishNumr and use services with monthly subscriptions (e.g., SocialCatfish).

As for SpyDialer’s downsides…where do I even start?

Well, as someone who is easily overwhelmed, I didn’t appreciate the constant pop-ups on the site. The bright colors and layout didn’t do it for me either.

Next, we have the incomplete and inaccurate details found, which SpyDialer warns its users about the same way a toxic ex would try to take accountability:

I like how honest SpyDialer is about its limits, but I believe that a little more professionalism could help clear up confusion on the users’ end!

All in all, SpyDialer is free with a limited database and functions. I don’t recommend it for high-stakes number lookups: work or safety reasons.

If you’re comfortable paying 6 bucks for a couple of reliable number searches to learn an unknown number’s identity, I say go for CatfishNumr!
